Does the ANA Code of Ethics support gene-therapy/enhancement?

  1. I'm writing a paper for my ethics class about ethical issues with nursing implication. My subject is genetic enhancement- changing the genetic code in embryo's for multiple reasosns such as to reduce the liklihood of disease or even to create "designer babies." Does anyone know the ANA's stance on this? Under stem cell research it states that they support education on gene-therapy, but do they see genetic enhancment as ethical?

I'm also interested in hearing what you think are some nursing implications that would deal with gene-therapy/enhancement. How do you feel about it?
