I am wondering about a good state to go to if I have a past, way before nursing that isn't going to make me do their peer assistance program. I'm okay with it isnt a hassle. I know why they do it but at the same time. I'd rather not be identified by my past non professional life. I decided to become a nurse because I care for people but at the same time I would never do anything to jeapordize my license or hurt any of my patients.

Anything that can be found on a background check is going to trigger further evaluation. Some states might be more lenient with a single, old charge but several charges, fairly recent charges, etc -- most states are going to make you do some sort of monitoring.

I had the same problem as u. When I applied for my loc in Ca and Nv. All I had to do was a letter of conviction. I never had to do a peer assistance program. And I've never had anything show up on my license.
