Was anyone able to respond to the code orange given at the bridge? Sure shook me up that I couldn't respond. Any Thoughts?

I don't live anywhere near where it happened. But back in the 80's I drove over that bridge when I was in your part of the country to testify at a court hearing. I had taken a short nap when I half hear the TV going on about a bridge collapse. It woke me up because I lived not to far from where another bridge collapsed during the 70s. I was surprised at the pictures because of how intact it appeared. Then I began to wonder about the people who were crossing it when it collapsed. But I was happy to see the number of people who were just ordinary people rush to try and save as many as were saved. It made me feel happy that we are all still part of the human race.

I am so sorry about the 13 people who lost their lives and their love ones. The past several weeks must have been terrible for them and the community. Things like this are terrible for the people who it happens to and to the rest of us. But it also demonstrates how much we can all pull together when we are given the chance. I lived thru Hurricane Charlie scoring a direct hit on my town. And I lived thru 9/11 and having just missed being there when it happen. But the people who spring into help everyone, be it me or the people who suffered after Katrina renews my hope in our country. We may moan and groan but when something bad happens, we all pull together. And that is what makes me proud to be an American.

Thanks for your thoughts Woody. The pictures as you know don't tell or show the real devastation. You've really been thru some tough disasters yourself. I think I know what town you are in as my inlaws were hit by Charlie too. I was able to visit ground zero the aftermath; although I will never forget simply watching TV and the planes struck during the show.

When I went to NYC to visit my son, a cabbie gave me a pin for no apparent reason other than he said I was a special person?????? and the button says NYC RECOVERS. WOW.

Take Care and thank you again for your thoughts.

We all deserve each others kind thoughts. None of us have gone thru anything worse then what each other has gone thru. We all need each others prayers and thoughts.
