Specializes in None, Hope to learn as much as I can.

I'm a prenursing student and having some doubt that it my be the wrong thing for me. I have dyslexia and I fear that this is going to cause a major problem within my career. Can anyone give me anything hear? Everyone around me says I can do it but I doubt it cause I have been a SAHM for 3 years, I just started classes for the first time in 5 years and I think I'm just really scared but I fear that this will hold me back.

Thanks to anyone willing to help.

Hi and welcome,

How are you doing in your pre-req classes? If you are able to do them well I'd encourage you to give nursing a try. The nursing courses are harder but its been my experience that the students that had As and Bs do fine. Good luck! Jules

I am a true believer in that our weaknesses can and shall become our strengths. If this is your true dream...your calling in life..."Never give up...Never surrender!!!":w00t:Keep your chin up. Now this is just my beliefs and my experiences as of yet. Nursing school is a place to jumps through hoops. You gain the book-smarts, how to provide care...basically really important stuff. In my personal experience though...its when you hit the floor with your liscense in hand where the real schooling begins. I work with many of the new grads coming to the floor and have found this (my experience once again)...I would rather have a C to B grade new grad then a straight A'er any day. Grades are important but it dont make ya a better nurse. Good lucks to yas.:pumpiron:

Thank you so much that really helps cause everyone is telling me I need to have A's and I know that it will be really hard to get them with my life being as busy as it is. I really want this and I had a chance a long time ago to do it but I made the choose to start a family first. Now at 28 and the mom of three I have been putting everyone else first and now it is my turn to be first so I can do something I love to do and something that will be better for my family.

Thank you all once again it really help when someone who work as a nurse gives a little of their experienced input..
