IEN to Canada with schizoaffective disorder looking for support

  1. I also have schizoaffective disorder its like a mild schizophrenia ang im taking my osce exam on wednesday, i need to pass that exam to take crne... Im from canada btw and im an internationally educated nurse. Im just afraid of the relapse while i'll be at work. But i am taking my meds regularly. I want to be a mental health nurse how ironic is that? Lol because i want to help people in my same situation.

    It sounds like you're doing at least some of what you should be doing to take care of yourself. Taking your medications faithfully is a major step in the right direction; so is getting enough sleep, eating a good diet, and doing some physical activity almost every day. These actions help to reduce stress, which in turn reduces the likelihood of having a relapse.

    I don't know much about what nursing is like in Canada, and I know even less about your illness; but I should think that the basic principles of self-care for mental illness are pretty much universal. Wishing you the very best!
