Hey all, first time posting. I am currently on 20mg of Lexapro and just started my dosing of 100mg of Lamictal (having been on the 5wk increasing dosing pack from 25mg to 100mg). I have been first dx'd with Recurrent Major Depression coupled with Anxiety and just recently was dx with Bipolar II. My major sx's before going on Lamictal was mild manic periods follwed by some intense depression (isolation, fear, suicidal ideations). I actually weaned myself off the Lexapro and was feeling pretty good for awhile actually. While on my Lexapro I was noticing some pretty fast cycling from my mania to depression, having a week of feeling like nothing could touch me for a whole week then crashing for three to four days of depression.

K...now that I am on the Lamictal for mood stabilization I found myself feeling like I was ridin' the wave, laughing and smiling, no mania, no depression. My NP had me start up my Lexapro again when I started my Lamictal. Now, after 4 good weeks I crashed hard, just like I used to feel, as if a switch was suddenly turned on and I became very not so hot feelin.

Sorry for the long post but I could really use some feedback on this. I have heard that Bipolar II and anti-depressants dont mix sometimes. I am currently seeing a psychologist as well and have a lot to work on but this depression has a paralyzing effect on me. I really am thinking that I need to talk to my NP and start to wean myself off the Lexapro again. Any thoughts?

Talk to NP or MD and Keep following up with them. IF you are unsure of the treatment being provide for your needs seek a second opinion from and MD or NP. Please don't try to self diagnose, and treat.
