We all know pets are great for reducing the physical side effects of stress.
What furry creatures await you after a long and terrible shift?
This is my pup. She's 2. Border collie and lab. If you have an obsession with mopping (excited pee-er), digging things out of a dog's mouth, and just generally never having nice things again, she's the dog for you! I will give her this - when my shift swings, she sleeps when I sleep without any trouble.
*sigh* I wish all 3 of my kids weren't allergic to kitties.
I'm allergic to cats and dogs (as in, I can walk into a house without visible fur kids, and within minutes I'm sucking on my rescue inhaler), but my own don't bother me. Apparently you can become desensitized to your own animals.
The eyes belong to Poppy. She's 11 years old. The one in the arch is Lily. She's 7 & Poppy can't stand her! We call Lily the goat. She will try to eat anything & frequently knocks over the waste baskets to see what's in them! She's also a huge cry baby!
Lily sounds like a character. I've never owned a cat (or been owned by one as they say) but recently kept two stray kittens for a few weeks until I could find a place for them. I was shocked that they would eat just about anything and begged ALL THE TIME. One of them ate some peanuts that were left out on the table. I thought only dogs did stuff like that. It was annoying but made me love cats more.
Your cats are scrumpy!

Lily is also a snuggler. She waits until I turn on my right side & then cries to get under the covers. She gets in & lays down facing me & kneads her paws on my stomach until we both fall asleep. She'll sleep like that for 5 hours or longer.
This picture made me laugh so hard! All that's missing is masking tape to mark off the four quadrants of the bed.
"If you step one paw over into my quadrant, you're toast!"
Thanks for posting it :-)
If you look closely, there are lines that do mark the quadrants, and they are perfectly centered within each one, lol.
The empty quadrant is where I get to sleep. My husband apparently gets to sleep on the floor...
That puppy sure is a Special Snowflake.
I unfortunately don't have a furry friend...yet! But pet therapy really works. A hospital that I used to work at as a nurse tech had ambassadors with their pets that would hang out in the main lobby. I remember having an awful day and I went downstairs to grab something from the cafeteria. One of those ambassadors were located right by the elevator doors with a giant, fluffy newfoundland and seriously, having contact with that dog made my day so much better! I met a lot of cute pups during my days at that hospital :)
