Has anyone ever been approved by the NJ BON with a drug record without having to do RAMP? My charges are 7 years old and i did send in letter of completion from rehab I completed 8 months of. please no ignorant comments.. Yes i made mistakes in my past but that does not define who I am today as a person. I have 7 years clean and am now awaiting approval from the bon

Good luck I hope the Monitoring Nazi's leave you alone. They would not in the neighboring state of Pennsylvania where one person in my support has 12 years

did they show proof of rehabilition?

Thank you I'm going to need the luck! I passed nclex Sept 11th and i still am waiting for the board to review my application. I'm so nervous they will not approve me or make me do ramp. I completed rehab I am clean ramp will do nothing for me it's stupid

Yep both inpatient & outpatient. Stupid is what it is and I sure hope they leave you alone for whatever happened years ago before you became a Nurse

Thank you! I pray they leave me alone but can't help but stress about it i know nj bon can be very strict.

I ain't gonna lie you got every reason to be stressed. However, they got ya by the neck & you really don't have much recourse but to do what you need to if you get sucked into this horrible vortex

did you try a lawyer before singing the agreement? I'm going to contact a lawyer if they try to make me do ramp. I have 7 years of random negative drug screens and a huge paper trail of being clean that I will use all of to prove I'm really clean and just went through a tough time in my life. I was 21 when I got these charges I was young and stupid.

I didn't much to my regret. I got a DUI and was remorseful. I never thought that nurses would put each other through this nonsense. Lawyering up might well be worth it

yes for now I am waiting to see what they say. In NJ if you have any criminal histroy they make the board review your application to approve or deny it. They only hold this board meeting once a month though and Dec 1 was this month's so hopefully I'll be up for the Jan review. if I see any reccomendations for ramp i will get a lawyer. I already conpleted rehab more rehab isn't going to make me "more clean" lol pointless and a waste of money.

This is one of the things that truly saddens me about nursing - that you are not allowed to make mistakes. To have a public record of your past errors on display for anyone to see for the rest of your life seems overly punitive to me, and leaves no room for grace. Please consider joining the ANA and fighting for our right to be human. If we don't speak up in an organized fashion, nothing will ever change. Congrats to you for being brave and sharing your story - you are not alone. Keep reaching out and asking for help and support!

Thank you very much
