Applying to clinicals while on ARD in PA

Hi,

I am about to submit my application for my college's clinical nursing program. I am currently on Pennsylvania's ARD program for 2 misdemeanor drug possession charges. These charges are visible on the background checks I had to submit to school. Will this prevent my acceptance?

Well I think that would be up to your school. I'm in Pennsylvania and I don't think legally you are under any obligation to tell your school about anything unless you are convicted and the ARD should take care of that. You should never have a conviction to report to your school. However, a few caveats are present. First, I don't know what your school's conduct policy is that you agreed to. I'd check that and weigh my options accordingly. Second, all arrest and court proceedings are public record so when its time to get your nursing license and take your boards the BON is gonna know. Long and short of this is that you are most likely to get referred to PNAP which completely sucks!!!! I wish you well but you face some serious obstacles in your future
