nurse working in a call center needs your help

Published

Hi!I'm currently working in a call center. I have been an RN since 2007.I failed the nclex once and I don't want to happen it again.I was approved by Vermont BON for a retake but still I'm trying to spend some tie to review. However, whenever I'm home i devoteted much time on taking some rest because my work is kinda stressful. I decided to create a thread because I need your suggestions, especially for all the nurses who are preparing for NCLEX-RN while on duty, either in the hospitals or call centers.Howw much time do you devote on reviewing?Any suggested time skeds?I am expecting for your reply.Right now,my shift is 10pm-7am and my restdays are sundays and mondays only.Thanks.

Not to nitpick, but if you haven't passed NCLEX, you are not an RN. Have you looked at review courses? If it's been 2 years since you last attempted, things have probably changed a bit. Is the call center you're currently working at health care affiliated? If so, do they offer a class? If not, try looking into classes available at nursing schools or hospitals. Not sure if they would allow outsiders in or not. Also try with the nursing school you graduated from- they should have an interest in helping you pass (makes them look better). Also, if your work is causing you too much stress that you can't find time to study, it may be necessary to drop to part time or take some time off.

well if your schedule is from 10pm to 7 am, you can get 7 hours of sleep and wake up at 2pm, then you can study (do 100 questions and read the rationale after). take a 30 minute break and read your content. Also, since you still don't have a date on when you are sitting your exam I suggest that if you will do it by yourself (not enroll in a review center) be consistent and patient.

What books are you using? Good luck on your exam. :)

well im using saunders 4th edition.i also bought 28 in 1 cd outside prc.

devote at least 100 questions/day

Graveyard shift is definitely tough. Had the same shift when I was working in the hospital. I wonder if you go straight to bed when you get home since I can't barely sleep after a long shift. Anyways, do read content day by day, if you are having a hard time with it. You won't be able to formulate diagnosis nor plans if you don't know the main subject of the question which is the disease itself. Devote yourself into answering questions at the end of the chapter of each content. 100 questions a day is a good start. Be consistent in studying, never put off for tomorrow what you can do for today. Good Luck! =D
