Hi and welcome to the site

Check out the International forum especially the thread titled Primer to working in the US Also plenty of other info on what to do plus a couple of threads in the UK forum. You can find these forums by clicking on the local tab near the top of the page and then click International.

You will need to do CES with CGFNS and also any other requirements for foriegn trained nurse on the Texas board of nursing (BON)

Also are you aware that there is a retrogression on at the moment and no visas so the process is taking a few years

Hello!

Welcome to allnurses!

I'm a french nurse living in the US. First of all you have to know that it's going to be a very long way..you will need patience, time and money!

This is the link to their FAQs where you will find some informations: http://www.bne.state.tx.us/olv/faq-Nclex.html#faq25

For what I understand you will have to submit a credential evaluation of all the classes you had during the nursing school, you will also have to take one of the english test.If the BON approuve your credentials you will need to take the board exam (NCLEX-RN)

If you don't have the green card I guess that you still will have to go through the visascreen process with the CGFNS.

I had to deal with the CGFNS and I really had a hard time so you'd better go for one of the other organisations that can do the review!!

Good luck!

CGFNS/ICHP is the only company that handles the Visa Screen Certificate and that is needed by all if they do not already have a green card, or a legal visa to work in the US.

Hello Caillou!

Thanks for your answer.

I know it's gonna be a very long process, for me it's not a real problem

because with my husband we want to move in the next 3 or 5 years.

That it's why i start the process now.

How long have you been in USA? and in what States do you practice?

I choose the Texas ( Houston )because I have my sister in law who lives there.
