Visa Screen Certificate / CGFNS

World Registration

Published

Visa Screen Certificate is required by all foreign nurses wishing to obtain a green card to work in the US, as well as any type of temporary work permit, such as the Nafta TN Visa for those from Canada and Mexico.

It requires that you pass either the NCLEX-RN or the CGFNS exam, as well as the series of English exams if you are not exempt from them.

The CGFNS exam is only required now in about five states, and rumor is that one or two will be removed from that remaining list as well. Do not bother with that exam if you are not going to work in a state that does not require it, or you have no way to be able to take the NCLEX exam from where you are currently located.

The application for the VSC is now only good for one year.........please do not apply for it until you have passed at least one of the required exams, or you may need to pay an additional fee.

For what? If it is in regards for your vsc then no you do not need to submit anything as CGFNS will see they already have the documents and reuse them

Thanks alot:)

Hi guys I'm a nurse from the Philippines. I applied for my NCLEX in New Jersey, which means I completed my CES then IELTS first before they let me sit on the exam. I took and passed my NCLEX just this April 2010, and up until now I haven't received any emails notifying me that I passed.I only knew it trough quick results. My IELTS will expire this September 18. I applied for VSC just today and now I'm really confused.

Here are my questions:

1. What is the appropriate visa that I should choose?where can i find the EB3 visa?

2. I already have my CES, does that mean I dont need to send the hard copies of my school records and Philippine license anymore?

3. How long does the VSC take?

thank you.

VSC takes approx 4 months to be issued and because you have CES the same documents can be used for VSC

EB3 visa like work visa requires a employer and EB3 is currently affected by retrogression so expect currently several years wait once you have a employer and approval is given.

thank you for the reply. does that mean i cant apply for eb3 by myself?only H1B? my IELTS is going to expire this september...If I can file it this month is there a chance that they'll reject it if it will take 4 months to process?how would they know that I already have CES?thank you.

You can't apply for H1b or EB3 they are employer driven and you must have a employer.

ICHP is part of CGFNS and they will know that you have had CES done.

Not sure on English test validity re you only have a couple months left before it expires, they may accept it there again they may not. Have you tried contact them about it?

havent contacted them yet..im having a hard time because im in the philippines so i cant call them, im just relying through email...:(

I already have my CES, does that mean I dont need to send the hard copies of my school records and Philippine license anymore?

Can I also ask where would I fine the form for Request for validation of registration/license?I searched the NJ BON website but I can't find anything. Can I just send a letter of request directly to NJ BON?thank u so much.
