NJ BON require SSN and affidavit - confused

Hi,

I am a BSN in India. I will be emigrating to the US in about 4 months. I was thinking of getting my CES done while i am still here in India so that it will be easier for me to follow up with my college on sending the required documents that need to be sent to CGFNS.

My husband is trying to submit an application to obtain a NJ license and their application form requires an SSN. Since i do not live in the US now, i do not have an SSN.....Can i leave that field blank and provide one later? the customer service folks i tried to reach out to are not timely with their responses. So i thought someone here with a similar experience could help. There is also one page in the application packet called the 'affidavit' that i will need to sign in front of a notary. What do i do with that if i an not in the US? now the obvious option would be to wait till I emigrate to the US...but then i really want to get my CES evaluation initiated when i am in India..what if they evaluate and forward the results to NJ BON and they dont have an application from me...hence my need to put in an application at NJ BON before i reach there....

any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If you do not have a SSN then you just leave it blank, you could always submit a letter to the BON with your application stating you will inform them on your SSN once you have one issued. For CES you do not need a SSN and many International nurses (myself included) have had CES done and do not have a SSN

Does the explanation letter required if u pass the application to nj bon?

Hi! I'm a Filipina and still here in the Philippines, I'll be in NJ by June this year through fiancee visa and eventually be a PR. I'm already starting my application process for NJ licensure by examination. In fact, I have just met its minimum requirement for English Exam, so CES report from CGFNS is almost done. I'm now at the point where I will submit my application packet to NJBON, but my question is.. do you have any idea if they will require SS# before giving me the eligibility to take NCLEX? Because for now I don't have one. I know that they require SS# to be licensed but I was thinking if they can allow me to take NCLEX without SS# considering that I have to provide it before they give me my license?

Your response will be a great help.

Thank you.

im not sure if they will but be prepared to wait for a long time..NJ-bon takes forever to process applications.. my guess is that they will ask for your ssn. i suggest you try to get in touch with them to make sure because once you send your application in and its not complete, it might take some time for them to send you a letter for missing info/document.then you will have to wait again so its better to send everything once and complete so you can get your att sooner than later

Yes, better to ask directly with BON re US SSN required when submitting application

Thank you ms.minchin and silverdragon102 for your replies. My fiance called the BON about this and according to them, they can consider my application and I can take the NCLEX without SSN, but I will only be able to get my license once I have provided my SSN.. which is enough for me. Thanks again. God bless! :)
