Couple of things

Have you even started the process to be a RN with the provincial college of RN's? If not that would be the starting point. Being a US Rn makes no difference and will not be an advantage. Different country

No use starting immigration until you have decided on a route to come to the country. I would suggest you check out the CIC website for the different routes and be aware the Federal Skilled Worker route is closed until the new year and no telling if nursing will be on the list and a requirement of 12 months full time employment or equivalent part time is required. Many employers will not look at you unless you have eligibility to sit CRNE or passed CRNE.

thank you silverdragon :)

i have googled about the provincial college of Rns, and thought it's also the same in USA, you have to have a license in a specific state? is there also a multi-licensing state here?

No every time you move province you have to apply for a license in that province. Very expensive as you have to go through the process a lot of the time. This is the same for a Canadian. Each province will have their own requirements and there are links to the various provincial colleges of RN and LPN in the Canadian forum at the bottom of the page

That is so expensive indeed :( they must give a bit of consideration coz i think there is no difference when u move to another state, they just want us to pay and pay and pay.. Sorry but thats what i think. Oh well cant do anything bout tht it"s there rules. Thanks again silverdragon :)

How are you a "USRN"? How long have you worked there and which state is your practice permit from?

You do realize that Canada isn't hiring overseas anymore and unless you are highly specialized chances of employment are slim? Local new grads are looking for work anywhere in the nation and are more than willing to relocate to get a job.

My year permit renewal fees have jumped by 75% in the last five years. Part of the increase was to cover the expense of handling overseas applications.

How, about some sympathy for us?

Hi there louieb. I saw your previous post. You have been posting since 2009 about getting to north america. It will be sometime, until they will open up again. Maybe 20 years or more or maybe longer. Priority is resident first like in the Philippines you hire our kababayans first before foreigners. You don't hire somebody from the outside & leave unemployed US legal residence hanging. Masmadaming problems if that;'s the case. Why don't you apply in Middle East or Japan or somewhere else. You'll be waiting many many years but no guarantee if you can migrate. Maybe by the time you can migrate you'll be senior citizen already & cannot work anymore. Try also in our country like cebu, mindanao. You will help our fellow kababayans.

yes i considered working to another country like libya aside from usa and canada and will leave soon, it is just that i was thinking about my future since i do have application in usa and im not losing hope about it. i do know that it is still recession in america and hard to find a job there but im not the only one here who has the same problem. im aware of it all,, just taking chances if theres any.

nurses here in pinas do get a job just for the sake of having the "required"experience ( sad but thats the reality) we sure do want to stay here to work and serve our country but we do also consider the salary we get, you dont wanna live forever here getting paid 8-10,000 php/month if you/re aware of it. and it is ALSO hard to look for a job here as nurse you do need to get somebody to back you up just to get the job ( it is not what you know, it is whom you know) some of us do volunteer work without pay ( if u are aware of it). So we are just hoping for the best and not losing hope going wherever we want to.

At some stage Quebec will require you to pass a language test for French and be fluent in it
