Just wanna ask if foreign graduated last 2008 is affected by concurrency issue.

If they are from the Phillipines, yes, especially if they graduated from 2005 to present (2013, not sure about 2014 grads yet) AND the 2005-2013 are applying after Nov. 2011, if in CA.

I can't speak for other countries nor the affected years the CA BRN is looking at for concurrency compliance for them.

Someone just told me that her friend who graduated last 2008,just got approved.Thats why i asked.Thank you

It's a case by case basis, but figure it's probably because her transcripts were "correct" and the BON (assuming it's in CA) didn't see anything they could considered as being "altered". There's still over 6,000 from the Phils unable to get their ATT in CA, some can't even endorsed over from other states.

So she's definitely lucky, but again, it's the exception, not the rule.

I would have to agree with the poster above me. The transcripts probably were "correct" (as in not fraudulent) and probably didn't have any issues with concurrency. The classroom and clinical subjects probably were all done in the same respective semesters. That, or the person in question managed to correct any "deficiencies" somehow and was therefore able to be approved.

Hi all. Am batch 1998 from the Philippines. I took and passed the NCLEX exam 2007, no SSN so i dont hold any license as well. Do you think i will be affected with the concurrency when getting my license in California when i arrives in the states??

You stated that you graduated in 1998, you should be okay, as there have been a few posters who graduated from the Phils before 2005 and they were able to get the ATT for the first-time in CA or able to get endorsed.

It seems those after 2005, it will be more difficult to get a CA RN license unless all conditions were met by re-taking the deficient courses etc.

I've heard from others that the main reason the CA BRN "grandfathered" those graduating pre-2005 is that if they (CA BRN) actually did request and reviewed the transcripts from those pre-2005, there stands a pretty high chance that the majority of pre-2005 nurses would NOT meet the concurrency rule and would mean up to 80,000 plus CA nurses (number comes from the CA BRN surveys) that came in from the PH during the "nursing shortage" era could NOT get their RN licenses renewed or would have to be placed on a conditional license until they took the deficient courses.

There's no way the CA schools, colleges nor CA hospitals could absorb such a large number of nurses needing to do the courses and enroll in the clinicals when there's always well over 10,000 current PH students and PH nurses now that are trying to get the deficiencies completed within the 3 year limitation of their CA BRN application.

It will be hard to say at this present time, on the situation of those graduating pre-2005 and the transcripts issue as the CA BRN now can confirm that there have been some (many) who submitted false transcripts and simply purchased them and got thru the CA BRN system and now working as nurses. Maybe many are already directors and supervisors and managers of hospitals and clinics but still cheated their way in.

Last mention by the CA BRN Enforcement unit, they are looking for the ring leader in the Phils, the investigation is probably still on-going and if they can find the records of those that obtained their documents illegally, I don't think there's a statue of limitation for committing a fraudulent crime. If so, found they will be looking hard at those nurses names and could face time with the legal system.
