im a second taker for nclex, i applied jus last year april and took he exam januray of this year, and now i re applied and asking for my cases, but i heard that they are requiring you to go back to school cozz theory and clinical rotations are not concurrent,do you know any school that accepts that case?coz im having hard time to look for school in california... and any idea if they apply this to retakers?

thank you

Hi Kuyafern, I'm going to be moving to Washington State with my husband (I should have been more specific than US). I need to address the gaps in education in order to get through the CGFNS certification programme. I guess there's nothing for it but to ring all the nursing colleges in Washington.

Those courses you need must mean you're possibly from another country other than the Philippines?

If so, I'm not sure if you might also fall into the same situation as us PH grads or students or nurses that are having major issues with our courses in CA (concurrency), but depending on what country you're from will help others to advise you.

thank you proudpinay. So if we do complete the LVN-RN route does that mean we won't face the concurrency issue in the future if we do apply in other states. I really want to become a traveling nurse and it would be great if I won't encounter this problem in the future.

Kuyafern, yea, as proudpinay said, you can become an LVN then apply for the NCLEX-RN upon completion of the deficient courses. But there lies in a big problem...where to take and find those courses in CA?

My friend and I were doing some rough calculations and we came up with about 12 maybe 14 possible TOTAL openings of the possible schools and colleges that "might" offer these courses without having to retake the entire nursing program.

Don't forget that it's not only PH students or nurses, there are at least 7-8 major countries with their own applicants trying to get the same spot and figuring in maybe 5,000 to 8,000 looking today?

When others say "forget" CA, they are probably right on.

You mention you want to travel, if you're able to get a CA RN license, then you're set for life, but if you're trying to travel back into CA with a travel nurse agency, it's best to get a straight answer directly from the agency itself, just make sure it's reputable so you don't get a bunch of "yes, NO problem, we do it all the time in your case". With that in mind, you know what other 12 states are enforcing the concurrency problem, just need to avoid those states.

Thank you steppybay. How long have you and your friend been looking for schools? Has it been a long time and no luck still? What are you doing in the mean time then?

Hi Ulna! so are you planning to take up your the deficiencies?.

Hey Duke09. I actually only sent my application recently, I'm just preparing myself for the worst right now since so many people have been denied. It's hard to be optimistic. If I eventually get the ineligibility letter I'm definitely planning on making up my deficiencies. It's the only way to go for me.

You?

1 year.....so sad....

I work with my friend's office as a clerk. My friends have been looking for a school for a little over a year now and one friend is pretty aggressive with this long process, no luck.

You guys have to remember you can't just go and sign up to get the deficient classes tomorrow. There's a somewhat lenghty process. I may post up somewhere else to further elaborate.

Wow. You didn't try for LVN either? I think I may just have the same future. At least you have a job though. But has it disheartened you a bit, this whole thing? :/

Oh please do, because that'd help a lot. I'm expecting my response in late October so your post would definitely be good to know for what to do then.

No, for now, I'm not interested in wasting 4 years of my time and hard times I put everyone in the family thru to become an LVN, no offense to others, go for it if you wish or have no other options.

The harsh and cold world of doing the LVN-RN route is just as tough to try to not only enroll the deficient classes with a 2-3 or more years to complete that route, if at all is possible in CA, but to find the $10,000's to do so.

I am looking with my friends into other States where we want to one day live for the next 5-8 years, raise our kids (not for while tho, prefer to stay single, lol) and go on a State's tour to really check out the areas and to become an RN.

I am very determined and so are my two friend's.

what state is the best to go to? My choices are New York, Texas and Florida... but i want to know the exact requirements coz i don't wanna waste my money.... Has anyone applied for new york yet?ang what did they ask?

To everyone asking of the same question: just pick whatever state you wish to work in for the next 3-8 years or more.

It makes no sense to get a license in one state, when you really want to work in another, as you need to still pass that state's requirements you wanted to work in the first place.

You will be spending more MONEY by hopping around one state to another in extra fee$ and possible extra money for certain testing$ and wasting more months waiting and waiting, instead of looking for a job.

The FASTEST, the EASIEST, the CHEAPEST state to apply into is the State you feel you will put your roots down for many years. If that state doesn't meet your needs and desires (weather, salary, etc) now then move on and research and travel to that state if you can.

Avoid the 13 states that are enforcing the concurrency now, The list of them are mentioned a few times on this forum.

To find out what state you are interested in, the bottom of each page is the list of BON's and you can easily Google...STATE's name followed by "board of nursing"....BINGO! It's all there for the state's requirements, including every one of the Board's has a special ""INTERNATIONAL"" section.

Hi ulna!Right now i'm thinking of taking the LVN , i just finish checking on the requirements and steps on filling it. Probably next week ill try to contact my relatives back in the PH to help me once again to follow up some paper works. :( ill try to call again the CABON to ask about the concurrency & if they will advice me to take the LVN-RN route then ill go for it. To take the deficiency classes and applying into another states is not possible for me right now. Thanks again guys! :) This forum really helps a lot! I wish i should knew this before right after i got here in CA. :)Well... Good luck to all of us! God Bless!
