needs information about nurse practitioner

Specialties NP

Published

I just graduated associate degree in nursing and recently got my licence. But i would like to get info about becoming NP. whats the difference between NP and Physicians? And what do NP and physicians have in common?

What should I do to become an NP? do i have to enroll for my BSN first? then Masters? If I want to pursue for NP, how long will it take for me to become an NP?

Please, please do a search on this site, there are already hundreds of threads on this topic.

Just so that you are aware, a Nurse Practitioner is Master's prepared, meaning that they also have a MSN. You can do the math on how long that it will take you to get to that point.

do i have to go to med school in order to be a NP?

the thing is i really want to be a doctor? please give me suggestions? do i really need to shift career? take biology (pre-med) or continue with my BSN, then masters? sorry im confused

No, you do not go to med school to be an NP. An NP is NOT a physician.

An NP is an RN in the advanced practice discipline. A physician is NOT an NP and did indeed go to med school.

You really need to research the NP vs. MD role. Please do a search within this forum and/or on the world wide web.
