I was a recipient back in 2009. The award made my life much easier, and Im glad I had the opportunity to work with my patients. That being said, my site was awful. It eas staffed largely by NHSC recipients and we were treated horribly by administration. They knew we really couldnt go anywhere for 2 years, and they took full advantage. Incredibly high patient volumes, very short appointment times, no back up when patients threatened you. I dont feel i was able to give good patitnt care under those conditions. I couldnt get out of there fast enough once my service was complete. I wrote a long letter to NHSCabout this site but never heard back from them. I do know of other people who had different and better experiences, so there are good sites out there. Just be sure you ask a lot of questions before you commit.

I was a recipient for 5 years and loved it. Had bad sites and transferred. Was really easy as long as you had the new site lined up. Ever went back and got my DNP and 2 postmasters.
