FNP in the cath lab/acute care post masters

  1. Greetings everyone. I just wanted to get an opinion/reality check from fellow colleagues. I am from Texas and recently completed an FNP program, but my nursing background is primarily in cardiac cath lab. There is position available within our department for a PA/NP and the medical director is encouraging me to apply. The main duties would include putting in post procedure orders, stress tests, facilitating orders for patients in the cath lab holding area, and discharging patients from the hospital. We probably have 75% outpatients that come through the lab. My only issue is there is a lot of gray area about FNPs in the inpatient setting. I feel qualified for the position but on a legal risk/training perspective I am hesitant on applying for the job.
I am seriously considering doing a post masters acute care so I could better work in this role if I did pursue this opportunity.

    Thank you for your input.
