I am curious to see whether there are any endocrinology NP's here? Or, if that is a field that NP's are even able to pursue. I am a BSN student right now, however, ever since A&P, the endocrine system has amazed me. It has interested me so much, that I am starting to look at certain endocrinology Ph.D. programs around the country; however, I would rather pursue my NP. So, I am just curious on others thoughts.

I'm a BSN student as well. To answer your question, absolutely. The diabetes clinic that I go to is filled with NPs, and one or two Endocrinologists. It's the field I'm most interested in as well second to CRNA. If you find any schools that specialized in the area, please let me know.

Probably not much help to you because I work in the UK but we have a ANP working in endocriology and another for endocrine surgery.

Specializes in private practice, corporate.

We are endocrinologist-poor here in St. Louis, so it looks very much an open market for NPs here. Also keep in mind increased incidence of diabetes/obesity/metabolic syndrome in the USA. Be sure to do a lot of preceptorship time with an endo NP or MD. Go for it!
