I will be finishing FNP school next year and then probably relocating to Florida. Does anyone know what the NP and MD relationship is like in Florida? I hear no controlled substance prescribing and supervision between MD and NP. Is there much autonomy for NPs here???

In Saint Petersburg, NP's rock. They go into hospitals, nursing homes, and see patients in the office and seem to enjoy quite a bit of autonomy. Most large medical practices utilize them. Surgeons, orthopods tend to use PA's and not ARNPs.
When I needed to see my MD right away he wasn't available and I saw his NP whom took very good care of me and is now considered my primary care provider.
They may not prescribe narcs.

I work in the NICU at All Children's Hospital in St Pete and we have numerous NNPs here.
