I would like to know what is everyone's nurse / patient ratio, when it comes to Pitocin inductions. MgSo4, Acitve labor, and fresh recovery patients.

Any help would be appreciative!

MgSo4 should be one to one in my facility. The others are supposed to be two patients to one nurse, but that isn't always possible because we can't plan staffing around births!

Usually ONE TO ONE, esp w/ labor or mag. Rarely, one may get a couplet w/ a labor if the floor is jamming (we do LDRP here).... and the labor pt is *UNCOMPLICATED*. But it is really, really attempted to keep it one to one when taking care of MgSO4 and labor pts.

Also, I agree w/Fergus....births are UNpredictible at best...and often our ratios get thrown off by new admissions and births. It happens everywhere....the best of intentions can be skewed by patient loads anywhere.
