Its been proven that when colleagues do not get along that patient care suffers. The healthcare team must work in concert to achieve the goal of good patient outcomes. Do you get along with your providers, do you see administrators often, not so often....or wonder who they are? If you don't know who your administrators are - do you feel that patient care suffers?

Grest post! I work as a DON at an assisted living and luckily my staff works as a team. They may have some conflicts here and there but I always have my office door open and they know they can come to my office and work through the problem! It is also very valuable to see and know who the administrator is. We are lucky to have an awesome administrator. His office door is always open as well and he walks the floors daily to check on everyone. We also see the CEO often! I am so thankful because I have worked for places where you have no idea who the CEO was and the administrstor stayed in the office with the door shut! I do think that if employees dont get along then patient care is affected. we have two great docs who come to the facility but we have had some that have had conflicts in the past!!!

Since I work the night shift, I only see the hospital administrator once or twice yearly. Although our providers can be demanding, most are fairly reasonable.

I work at a College as a Clinic Nurse. The Administrators and Directors stay in their offices making decisions that affect Nursing Staff, patients and others without mentioning anything to the staff that will be doing the job. I have no respect for any managers here. They have no idea about how or what we do as Nurses, CMA's and NA's. We have Policies and Procedures so that is all they know. Plan to exit soon.
