Helo Allnurses people!

I am a Filipino nurse wanting to work in Canada even as a semi-skilled worker just so i can come to Canada ASAP! I am really begging for advice from anyone specially from those who had the same experience and succeeded in Canada.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: Help me co-nurses... brothers and sisters! Thank you so much!!!!:redpinkhe:redbeathe:heartbeat

There are several threads discussing Canada and to be honest there is no quick way to do things. Have you applied yet to a province college of RN's and gotten eligibility to sit CRNE? Have you found a employer or even had your medical? You are looking at several months going through the process before you can think about moving as a few factors come into being like do you need to do a SEC course?

Suggest a good read

Also you are talking about coming over as a semi skilled worker, what job are you thinking about and are there restrictions?

Hi silverdragon!

Semi skilled like food servers, hotel clerks, kitchen helpers etc.. is it a good or a bad idea? My aim is really to be a registered nurse in Canada. While i am doing my semi skilled work there, i am going to write the CRNE. Is it better to apply as a live-in caregiver or Nursing Assistant? If yes, how? :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

Which province are you looking at working in? To be honest I think you would be better off going for RN from the start but a lot will depend on which province even if you plan on going as a semi skilled worker.

Also be aware that going as a semi skilled worker may be hard as many Canadians are struggling to find work and a employer has to apply for a LMO and prove that they can not employ locally

I am aiming for Alberta or British Columbia because I heard that they are experiencing workforce shortage. I am not really sure how true that is. If that is the case, what would you advice me to do? What country should i pursue? I have pending application for Immigrant visa in USA but i believe that it will take a minimum of 5 years.

Hi im a filipino nurse and also got my vermont state license and im also interested in moving to canada since US visa processing may take long here. What cities would you recommend and how many years of hospital experience do they require. Im a fresh graduate though.

I suggest you start by reading the literally HUNDREDS of posts on that topic in the DOZENS of threads that have already been created in this forum. Then if you still have questions...

PS: This post has been moved to an existing thread in the International forum. IENS please note that most Canadian nurses don't know anything about immigration, licensing in other provinces, work permits or any of the many issues that you will face.
