Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

I called. The first person I spoke with was extremely curt and just said, "you were not selected " and that Jamie king is not the representative and nothing else. The second person was a little more helpful and "escalated " it to someone else. Said I should hear back in 3-5 business days.

That is what they told me also. I mean c'mon does it really make sense that probably half of us who got our offers back in August were suddenly "not selected"? I escalated my case also. Please let me know what they land up telling you!

I have the same dates as all of you of Aug 20th for finalist notification and countersignature on Sep 14th. Also, no federal loan defaults. The only form that I was asked to resubmit was the enrollment verification form that you submit along with your W-4. I did not have to resubmit any of the original application documents.

Were you all apart of the Facebook page too? I'm not sure that half of us were rejected but definitely a few. And it makes absolutely no sense.

Did you ask Nurse Corps to send you an email transcribing this conversation you had where it said Jamie King is the secretary's authorized representative?

No I didn't because I was selected . I didn't know they can send me that. But that is what someone told me . I am unsure why anyone who was a finalist aug 20 signed on sept 14 wasn't selected . That is not cool

Well, the contract says "The Secretary or his or her authorized representative must sign this Contract before it becomes effective" and since it is Co-signed by Jamie King, whose role is listed as "OFAM Approver, HRSA," it stands to reason he either is the Secretary or is the authorized representative of the secretary.

I hope this gets fixed for you guys soon. I can't imagine!

I received my rejection letter yesterday morning. I will not be reapplying. Thankfully, I graduate with my BSN in December. I will look for other grants/scholarships available in another year when I go back to school to be an NP. This whole process was just too much stress. Good luck everyone!

Everyone...I'm on the FB group and so far, THREE people who got rejection letters the past two days suddently got acceptance letters up until a half an hour ago...COULD THIS BE A HUGE MISTAKE?! Praying for all of us, especially those sent COI emails on August 20th and signed on September 14th!

OMG. after reading that message I checked my email and I received message. They said that there is a systems error. Wow they are messing with my emotions. After eating my heart out in ice cream I do not look forward to them breaking my heart again. lol
