Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.
Hi Orangesnapple, I, too, received a rejection notification today, for which I am shocked about. Sigh. I received a finalist notification on 20Aug2018. I completed all necessary and additional (required) paperwork and also had a countersigned contract within my portal (signed on 14Sep2018). My program is an RN / BSN track. I am most confused about the fact that some of the forum members were told that additional funding was received by HRSA / BHW and this is why they received finalist awards over the past 48 hours, but I was told on the phone today that they ran out of money. So how do they run out of funds for finalists from mid August but can award a finalist from within the past 48hrs?? (I am not mad at anyone who has received this notification--congratulations to you, I am just confused). Another member posted that their portal changed from 'In Final Review' to 'Under Review' and that she was told this was a glitch. My portal reflected the same change. Did the system then automatically reject our applications despite having been considered a finalist for five weeks. I keep crying (but trying to stop). I can't fathom why they can't just inform you in advance that they will reject you and you think that you are in a good position to win the award. Why do they bother doing the countersign, having you rush like a chicken with your head cut off to submit the W-4 and the school enrollment verification form, only to waaaaaaaaaiiiit and be devastated with a rejection notice. Congratulations to all of those who switched over to Participant status.
I did and still no official notice. My status also went back to under review instead of under final review and I cannot see my contract anymore. When I called they said it was a glitch, but I called again today and they had no idea...At this point..who freaking knows.
Hi Jyurechko, my account did as yours--went from 'final review' to 'under review.' I was notified of finalist status on 20Aug2018, and had the countersignature on 14Sep2018. Today, I received a rejection notification and when I called they said they ran out of money, but this seems odd, considering other forum members were recently told they were made a finalist due to an increase in funding. I hope that I wasn't rejected due to a glitch in the system.
I feel the same way. It's an emotional roller coaster and I fought tooth and nail to have my school fill out the forms needed within the short time they give you. So much effort was given and I was relieved to see the counter signature. Now all hope is gone. I feel like I got punched in the gut. Congrats to those who were awarded. And sorry to those that have not.

I feel the same--MAJOR punch in the gut. Now I have to figure out how to make ends meet over the duration of my schooling. All the best to you Orangsnapple.
Wow. Your case seems like so wired. I agreed with you. It doesn't make sense to reject the one who already awarded and offered the new applicants. But, no worries. Always God have some reason. I personally decided to take loan and move forward. It's okay we will pay it back after once start working. So think positive and just relax.
