Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

I would have rather been told that I wasn't selected weeks ago rather than be held hostage in anticipation.

Is everyone feeling pretty sure that they are only doing the one round of notifications this year then? (I think there were only two people on here that were maybe notified a different day). There have only been half the number of people posting as finalists than any other year. Is this site just less active than other years? Maybe it's possible they will do another round still? í ¾í´ž They did open the application nearly 2 months later than normal.

But the deadline is still the same, 9/30/18. IF selected as a finalist, there are still documents that have to be verified, and turned in....that would take atleast 1-2 weeks...so by my thought processes, if it doesn't happen by 9/14/18...I don't think it will happen this go around. I agree, it seems like all recipients were notified 8/20/18...and just a couple after that. I would assume that there might be the possibility of someone NOT following thru with award process- but think that would be rare. I did read that last year there was an individual receiving finalist email on 9/6/17. Just seems weird to still be listed as "under review" ifall awards made- but sure what it seems like!

From my understanding, they have until the 30th to award. We would have until whatever date they assigned to accept. I read that someone received the award on the 30th two years ago.

I keep hoping! Part of me doesn't want to hope! It's excrutiating dragging out this lomg and not knowing if there is something to hope for or not...

There's another "scheduled maintenance" for the site this Thursday maybe that's a good sign.

I saw and I'm praying. It's just really weird it's only been one round when previously it's been at least two. I am definitely not applying again. It's not worth the stress. I already took student loans out because of how long this took....

I guess Trump cut the fund for this program. So that why, they have only one round during this year. But, we will see.

I had the same thought a while ago. I looked up the budget. They renewed it for the same amount as last year. So, it wasn't cut. I do think the delay in opening the application cycle was due to the wait for the budget to be approved. He did try to slash it.

Whatever the reason, I thought (based on my past performance and credentials) I was a good candidate for the scholarship. Believe me, I'd love to blame Trump but I think at this point it was a matter of competition and availability of funds. If I receive a finalist email by the 30th it will be a welcomed blessing but If not life will go on...
