Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

So that means even if we are a finalist and we confirm our intent for the award we may not get it?

It says in the email that it's not a guarantee of award but I'm sure we do it.

Has anyone asked if they are still awarding? Prob get the standard answer of "until the 30th", but maybe we will get more info? I am in lecture all day and can't call.

I did and they gave the standard answer of "everyone will know by the 30th".

I'm not trying to be negative, but I'm thinking there won't be a second wave of notifications. I hope I'm wrong.

In past years, the credit check came before the finalist emails and did thus the check did not guarantee a finalist email.

Once individuals received a finalist email, it seemed to indicate with high certainty that they'd be receiving the award.

If we go on this information, receiving the finalist email means that unless something shows up drastically wrong on the credit report, receiving a finalist email is a fairly confident sign that you'll be receiving the award.

But you never know with the government. I dropped everything with my life at home, quit my three jobs, and moved to Pennsylvania from Rhode Island in 6 days because I received the finalist email. I'm definitely counting on the certainty of the finalist email in years past being an indicator for this year.....

I just got my notification yesterday that I'm a finalist and was asked to fill out my confirmation of interest and all bank account information. I'm excited!! I applied for the HRSA loan repayment as a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Congrats but I believe that's a different scholarship program than we are waiting for.

Any ADN or BSN students receive a finalist response? After reading the replies, they seem to only be awarding scholarships to those seeking higher degrees.

As each day passes, I lose more and more hope. The application process (and documenting) took quite an investment of time and energy.l
