Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

Specializes in Surgical/Trauma ICU RN.

For the W4 form do we just complete page one if we do not work?

Specializes in CVICU.

ZfutureRN, my reason for declining the scholarship was similar to NWOHRN's. After much thought I really did not want to be tied down to the service requirement. I'm hoping to find a job that might offer a sign on bonus or pays pretty well so that I can comfortably pay back my loans. I also want to pursue CRNA school. When I looked to see if there were any approved critical care jobs in my area or a neighboring area, I didn't find very many. I felt the scholarship would set me back timewise when it came to applying to CRNA school.

Thank for your reply. Boy am I glad I asked because I plan to go back for my CRNA as well but the facility that is approved for Nursecorp also has the best CC experience in my area so that works out. I guess now that you mentioned it, I am curious to know if in addition to finding a HPSA facility, I have to be in a specific area of nursing and if ICU at the approve site is ok. Do you if they are that specific?

It looks like the third wave didn't come this morning. Anyone get any letters?

You can work in any specialty for your service commitment. One of their promotional videos on FB even featured an ICU nurse who was fulfilling her commitment. I also plan to go into critical care, and don't think I would have accepted the award had it required me to work in a certain specialty.

Hello all! I am curious if the speciality we choose on the form will be the one we have to ultimately carry through to the end? Is it okay if it changes eventually?

People who have gotten finalists letters, do you might sharing what your EFC was and whether it was higher than the cutoff they provided for the first tier? I want to see if they take that into account the most, at least so far!

EFC: 0

Gpa: 4.0

5 plus years of service both work and volunteer in different areas serving needy communities.

I had an EFC of 0. A 4.0 gpa and lots of experience working with underserved. I also live in rural TN, so not sure if that helped.

Had a credit check but no offer and application still "Under review".

(I remember that last year's threat had waves of emails sent, hopefully this year it will be the same!)

I'm just hoping for the best :)

Congrats to the people that received an offer!

EFC: 1500

GPA: 3.3

As u can see my scores aren't perfect. There's hope. I focused on my essays and spent several months on them.
