After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
I chose NHSC for the tax aspect for sure but also as a CNM/WHNP I want to practice mostly as an active CNM so nurse corps I would most-likely have to practice in a clinic as a WHNP whereas NHSC I can hopefully find a placement delivering babies.
If you haven't received the award, does your status still say "Under Review"? I'm just hanging on to any thread of hope right now & wanted to see if people know for sure if they're not getting the scholarship.
Congrats to those who have received finalists emails! I'm a psych NP student currently enrolled in the second year of my master's program. I applied to both scholarships (NHSC & NURSE Corps). I received my finalist email from NHSC on 7/27 at 9:00AM EST but did not receive an email from NURSE Corps. I did, however, receive two credit checks from both scholarships (6/14 from NHSC and 7/15 from NURSE Corps). I am quite relieved that I was offered an award from NHSC as opposed to NURSE Corps since I too was concerned about the tax burden. I already submitted my documents and accepted the award offer. Had I been offered both, I would have chosen NHSC anyway, so it worked out for the best. My application is currently under final review, just waiting on the countersignature. For those who are still waiting...Good Luck! There's still time :)
Hey everyone, my account only says the nurse corps scholarship is now closed. It has my name and id number at the top of the screen. This is the same message I have been getting since submitting the app in May. Mines never said under review. What exactly are u guys logging into??
