After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
Hey everyone! Reading for a while but just now posting. Waiting with the rest of you. I applied to the Nurse Corp and the NHSC. There is a MD board on another site for the NHSC. The MDs got their credit checked on 6/14 and still nobody has heard. My credit karma doesnt update until tomorrow so I am hopeful but its kinda looking like no check. Hope that I will be one of the ones like last year that didnt get credit pulled and got it. I can dream I guess....
Do you think something is supposed to happen tomorrow? Last year, the first credit check was 7/28/15, and the first award notification was 8/3/15 (credit: dianearc). That was only 6 days apart! This year, our first credit check was 7/15/16, so I was hoping the first award notification would happen today, but alas nothing!
Do you guys think my time would be better spent checking my email inbox/junk folder or the HRSA program portal? Most of the time I only have a few minutes on the computer before life gets in the way so just wondering!
Make sure [email protected] is in your contacts and it won't go to junk. It's the same email that notifies you when you need to update your password. The portal won't update until you get your email so no point checking there. From what I see from last year most of the emails were received on the evening eastern time so don't pull your hair out. It's still early!
