Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Awesome. Good to know. Waiting till July is going to be rough but at least we know!

Ok, so I broke down and called again. I spoke to a very nice representative that said they have emailed very few reward letters (his exact wording was 1 or 2), but he stressed that the majority of award letters almost always go out in July! He also said that as long as the website says "under review" you are in the running. So finally some clear answers! He also stated that if you haven't heard anything by Sept. 1st, you are basically out of the running. All awardees are notified before Sept. 1st and everyone who doesn't get an award will be notified by Sept. 30th. So now I am going to stop stressing until about late July. Just thought I would share with everyone because I thought that was a very informative phone call.

thank you for calling and getting some info!

Hi everyone!

I posted a while back at the time of the application submission and have been following the thread since. Wanting to check in with the RNs to see if any have had a credit check? It appears that most on here seeing credit checks have been NPs and didn't know if RNs were seeing any positive signs as well. HPSA score 16, DTI 130% and nothin at all yet!

Wishing everyone luck!

I am an RN and had a credit check done on April 19th. HPSA score of 15, DTI 300%.

Good luck to everyone!

It doesn't help that they keep sending me emails about other programs and my password. Every time I see a HRSA email in my inbox, my heart jumps up into my throat and the bottom drops out of my stomach. Then I open it up only to find that they're giving me details on some other loan program for which I'm not even eligible. It's taking years off my life, I tell you!

Specializes in Labor and Delivery, PP, NICU.

I'm in the same boat....no credit check....

Hey don't take that person serious. He accuses people of being passive aggressive but on page 9 he clearly attacks a CRNA. He/she has a different agenda.

Anyways, what's your score and DTI? If you don't mind.

Thank you for noticing that!!!!

Best of luck to everyone, including that passive aggressive badgerer that seems to think they run this thread. The one who also comes across (to me at least) as thinking that CRNAs and possibly anyone not in the 50% category is less deserving than he/she bc they are an NP working in an "under served" area. As qualified applicants, aren't we all serving those members of our community most in need that would otherwise go without life saving/prolonging/wellness medical care? Can someone undergo a surgery to resect some type of cancerous lesion, or have the mediport put in to be able to start chemo without anesthesia? And that is simply stating the obvious, probably a little too simple bc it really is about so much more than that. But just one minute example of how my profession plays our part in promoting the well being of our patients. Isn't that why we went into nursing to begin with? Hopefully so ....So we are all equally deserving; unfortunately there just aren't enough funds to go around. So again, good luck everyone!

Awe thank you so much! :) back at you!

Hi! Just curious if there are other faculty members out there who applied. I work with >50% of students from a disadvantaged background, but my D/I ratio is around 55%. I see that puts me in a much lower tier this year. Staying hopeful!

I was just looking over the application checklist and noticed the following: "For Federal loans, the Aid Summary Report on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website is considered a disbursement report. To receive consideration for an award, both the NSLDS Aid Summary Reportand account statements must be submitted with your application. Submitting only the NSLDS report will deem your application incomplete upon review." Well it's too late for me to change now, but I suppose I am ineligible. I did not attach account statements from my lenders. I don't know how I missed that. :(
