Well I read it Dreamer.

I had several very slanderous and distressing complaints made against me by a male patients boyfriend. It was the opinion of all my colleagues that it was because I had (politely) declined to meet him for a drink after work. It was funny at the time, but when the complaints came in................As per my previous post, the complaint was not upheld and was buried, but it went down on my record.

Like I said before, when your wrong your wrong, and when your right your wrong.:smackingf

I don't get that ... when complaints are unfounded that they go in your record...

Yea I dont get that either. Not that I am a goody two shoes (which i am).. But I pride myself on having a pristine record in school, and I intend to keep that in the hospital. For something so unfounded and obviously not logical like that, can I not just refuse to sign the form?

There has to be some way to make something as unfounded as "He wont date me wah wah," not end up on the record...

I think that you have to (does anyone out there know otherwise?) but isn't there a space to make comments? (and stick to the facts as in your regular nursing notes).

I could almost hear your voice saying the "He won't date me wah wah" - I laughed right out loud! HA HA HA!

Yep, I agree ;)

And doesn't this just reinforce what people have been saying? People are NOT THAT SICK if they can make passes at the staff!!!!

Night shift once wrote me up for supposedly refusing to change a patient's bed linens (I was an aide at the time) ... which the patient supposedly complained about it after the shift change. The patient claimed the husband had to change the linens during my shift.

Only problem was ... the linens were in a locked room with a code key. How did the husband get the linen since I supposedly refused to do it?

I quit that job shortly thereafter ... they can go write up somebody else since they obviously have nothing better to do.

Grrrr ....

i had a pt complain to my supervisor that when he made

advances on me and i politely declined him, that i did

it in "a disrespectful" way that belittled him. mind you, i am a male. my

sexuality had not come up at all and he had no reason

what so ever to assume i was remotely interested in

anything more then getting a pmhx and vs. i was just

beside myself. apparently "im sorry but i am in a

relationship and i am working at the moment so please

put out your arm so i can get a bp." was rude.

i must be missing something, but why were you trying to get a past medical history and vital signs on a physical therapist? or did you mean patient? (pt is physical therapist, patient is pt.)

ha ha ha, I wonder how close my "interpretation" would be to the reality!

How do you record yourself BTW? Is it possible or were you pulling my leg? I've wondered if I could do that in email or on different sites ...

Actually this is off topic if you want to send me a private message about it.

I don't know what made me remember this but I had a coworker once with whom I had developed(I thought) something of a rapport. Well one day we were in the nurses' station and I jokingly made a comment about her not working hard. I forget my exact words but it was something along the lines of are you hardly working or working hard. You know that lame joke, well not that lame but it was harmless like that. Well a few days later, guess what I got invited to a meeting with her and the charge nurse to discuss my attempt to slander her! She said that she felt like I had a low opinion of her as a nurse and my comments left it open for people to believe that she was not a hard worker. And I was attempting to destroy her reputation as a nurse. As broadsided as I was, I apologized profusely for my faux-pas but she wasn't in a forgiving mood. So *shrug* what could I do? Obviously we weren't as good of friends as I thought or she might have given me the benefit of the doubt. Also she must have had a massively low self-esteem or insecurities if she was that bothered by my little joke. I just moved on. I can remember being quite annoyed at first but it's funny now.

ok - four nurses working one was male - two of us women were teasing with the male nurse like he saying women jokes and we women gave it right back - not meaning anything against anyone just having fun telling jokes and bantering - ( we would never have talked the way we did had we known she was there as we knew she would not find the jokes funny - oops lol) anyhow- a few days later after the 3 of us were harassing each other ( and none of us were offended it was in fun to us) were called into the office to face the other nurse who turned us in for sexual harassment against HER !!! we were all like umm huh? we never even said anything TO her like that and we did not know we were talking in front of her and when push came to shove it turned out she was hiding around a corner and sat listening and could have very well said hi so we knew she was there or left if it bothered her so none of us were penilized but taught me a valuable lessonn - watch what you say until you look around the corner LOL.

I had an older lady who complained to the doctor when he rounded that the "Big, bald man crushed my pelvis!" He came to me and asked what I did to her. She was referring to me holding pressure on her R Groin site after she'd popped a perclose and had a SBP in the 200's, and I was the only person on the unit strong enough to stop the bleeding. Fortunately, the complaint was not really much of a complaint, and honestly, that's the only patient complaint I've had in over 6 yrs in my current job.

I once got a complaint that I made another nurse "nervous" turns out I moved too fast. I was 30 had just come from a trauma 1 ED where we all moved very fast. This nurse was in her 50s and if she moved any faster she would go in reverse. In all the time I worked with her she never took more then one pt at a time and I never tookcare of less then 12pts. (there were only two nurses and one MD and a xray Tech no aides or any other staff it was a very busy outlying free standing ED with alot of critical pts) Did I move fast, you bet.
