With nurse's week being kicked off today, I'm seeing posts on social media about things people are getting from employers. Everything from a tote bag with the employer's logo to a bottle of wine (can I work there?!). I'm not working til Tuesday so I won't know what, if anything, my employer has going. I know this topic has been done in the past and some people have mixed feelings-- ie they'd rather their employer spend the money on better staffing. But it could be a fun topic too, so what'd ya get?

We have a very small budget so we're giving a small but indulgent gift card (no company logo products!), cards with hand written words of gratitude and making breakfast. We can't give generous monetary gifts so we're going with something as personal as possible.

Same as last year. An unstable cardiac in the hallway & shortstaffed.

My employer does "events" more than "gifts." We'll have some educational events about stress reductions, healthy living, etc. ... celebrations of achievements made over the past year, a "fun" moving night for staff and their families, some individual unit lunches, etc. Sometimes, there is a little $5 gift, but we are getting away from that as being too cheap to be meaningful and/or appreciated. The money is being spent on events instead.

Nurse's Week gifts?? Heh. Funny.
Boss didn't even acknowledge it in the morning report email.
Frankly, I've gotten so many company logo laden cheap gifts over the past several years that I don't even care anymore.

My employer is having a breakfast party one day, a lunch party another, and manicures another. They are being held in the administrative buildings, so no staff nurses will have time to leave the floor and get over there and back since its a pretty good walk to get there. And they seem to have forgotten we are not allowed to wear NAIL POLISH. So like last year, we will see all the pictures on the intranet of the management enjoying the parties without us.

Sounds about right. That or a geri-psych patient with access to a 3rd floor balcony and an outside door.
