Don't go to co-workers' parties where drinking is occurring

I went to a co-workers party, she had a hall, DJ, Karaoke, etc, and lots of booze. I found out that another co-worker turns in to a trailer trash crazy woman when exposed to too much alcohol. It was a bad scene and there is continuing drama occurring.

I normally don't attend parties. I was the soberest person there, I think, although I did loosen up enough to show off my lousy dancing.

So, a word to the wise: Don't go to drinking parties with co-workers!!!

Alcohol is like laughing gas to me- I get unbelievably giggly and will laugh at everything. Of course, I drink the froufrou girly drinks, so I never really taste the alcohol and sometimes have more than I thought I did.

Me too, until I start crying...WHY don't you know how much I LOVE YOU?

Socializing with coworkers outside of work is ugly business, in my observations.

To me if they're sober at work, that's the main thing. A nurse at work told me about a facility where she used to work where some of the nurses were on METH. Yes. Like spaced out at work sometimes.

Oh but it's so fun to go and watch people make fools out of themselves hahaha. What's that saying " don't ****, where you eat!"

I always thought that meant to not sleep with your co-workers! lol (also a very good rule)

If you're not super close to the people you're partying with, then stay away if you feel you must. However, I've been to some work parties that were epic and I wouldn't have missed them for the world! haha Seems like you've done a good job it (and it's always fun to see the pictures the next day of your co-worker asleep on their roof for no apparent reason:cheeky:

That's the best (the crying)! hahaha

I have no middle ground. Either I get super friendly and bubbly or I pass out. #oldlady

Haha!

As former "trailer trash," it's hard to get offended when most of the stereotypes have truth to them.

I'm one of the lovey, disinhibited drunks. I love EVERYBODY. I had to be careful choosing my wingman so I went home with the right people!

If I still drank like that, there would be NO WAY I could do it around work people. I'd end up sleeping with somebody and have to get divorced, LOL!

Oh, dear. re: the continuing drama -- you never saw a thing . . .:o

Watching everyone else's awkward dance moves can be pretty entertaining, too. I swore off right after the Macarena.

I think socializing outside of work with you compatriots is one of the biggest perks of having a grown up job! You bond and have stuff to laugh about the next time you work together. You can't always be "on" and in work mode. You need to let loose once in a while. Some of my best memories from the hospital are going out after our shifts to eat and drink. It's fun. Try not to judge people too much, especially if they are able to separate their work and party personas.
