Nurse:Client Ratios and Admissions

Hi all. I'm trying to get an idea what other facilities are like for acute detox.

How many patients do you have, on average, per shift?

How many admissions do you typically have per nurse, per shift?

Do you lead groups? Are you responsible for ensuring clients attend all groups?

my name is tom and i am a nurse rehabilitation counselor at a detox. where i work patient ratios can range anywhere from 5-10 patients to one nurse. we also usually have at least one ca on as well. we decide on how many admits to do per day based on the complexity of each case. on average we admit about three per day, but it really ranges between 2-5. where i work the nurses tend to do more one on one work when it comes to counseling, but we do ensue that clients participate in groups as appropriate. hope tis helps and feel free to message me.

My facility ratio ranges between 4-12 patients per one nurse, with at least one tech on the unit. They're trying to improve the ratios....which would be really nice since there are a lot of medical issues in detox.

New admissions: on average, it's about 1 to 5 admissions a day. Some days we are so swamped, it seems like we're giving something away for free :) I wish admissions was better at scheduling them, as they always seem to set them up back to back to back.

I don't usually lead groups since I have to handle all of the nursing issues, and like Tom said, nurses also do a lot of 1:1 counseling with patients. However, I will lead them when necessary. All staff are responsible for encouraging patients to go to groups.
