NP Clinicals

I am about to start FNP Clinicals OB and Adult. I am wondering what to expect. I am nervous about the classes. Do you think taking both will be to much work?:(:(:(

I just finished OB/GYN (did Adult semester before). I thought GYN was pretty straight forward, easy. I did so many pap smears/pelivcs/breast exams I could do them in my sleep! My adult class was extremely hard. Everyone in our class failed the first test, but we all ended up passing. Adult is so hard because there are so so so many things to consider, systems to look at, meds, so many problems. I'm nearing the end of my NP program and adult by far was the hardest for me.

Personally I'd never be able to do ob/gyn and adult together. Maybe if your a single person, no kids, no spouse, don't work and are really a hard core student you could do it. Don't bite off more than you could chew. We had to take a research class with adult and just the added "busy" work really took time away.

You should really talk to students who have taken those classes at your school, see what they thought.

What has helped me in clinicals is a book called SOAP notes and constantly doing review questions out of NP Review books. The books really help you to link concepts together and get to the nitty gritty of what you need to know vs. reading 700 pages of a textbook.

Whatever you decide, good luck!

Good luck. You can do it! Just got to prioritize things in your life, and it might be a tight squeeze for a while, but it is definitely doable.
