First of all let me Congratulate all of the persons who have passed NCLEX and give well wishes to all those that will take NCLEX in the near future.
:yelclap:
Now let's get to it....We have passed NCLEX, but where are the jobs for the new graduates? Isn't there still supposed to be a nursing shortage?
Obviously not.
I live in the state of NC and as I am looking for jobs, just about 97% of them require at least one year experience, to me, it is a bit oxymoronic. How is it that we are new to the profession, but yet expected to have experience, Furthermore, how will we gain any experience if no one will give us the opportunity to?
Now it is just a matter of waiting...I have put in many applications, but I keep getting the email that says, "We thank you for your interest in wanting to make a difference, but we are currently pursuing other applicants." Ughhh...It is so frustrating!!!!

I'm in CA and I soooo feel you on this one! I can't find anything or anyone who hires new grads. It's so frustrating. I'm now planning on going back to school to get my BSN, take ACLS, BLS, NRP classes in the meantime and also plan on volunteering in a local hospital. I got to do something and going back to school/getting certs is the best option for me right now

Utah is about the same way except the places I've looked at require at least two years of experience. Oh the irony of the nursing field. :)
I'm actually not planning on seriously pursuing a nursing job until I complete my BSN. It'll only take two semesters now that I've been accepted into the program, and the jobs I have right now, while they don't pay as well, are nice and comfy for a college student.
Good luck to you finding a job! There is a job for you out there somewhere!
