Hey everyone! I am a current LPN student at Rasmussen College, and I have the opportunity to switch to the RN program. I am almost done with my LPN I graduate next December and I have been looking at some community colleges here in MN because it is a cheaper option with the option to work towards your BSN as well. What do you guys think?

Also, what is the difference in pay between LPN and RN in Minnesota on average?!

I don't live in MN but I am a current LVN & if I had that opportunity I would jump on it. I don't regret becoming a nurse, I love it. I wish I got my RN because it would've opened so many doors (job wise) for me. I have never worked in a hospital (some here still hire LVNs) & probably won't until I get my RN. I was to experience more & learn more that I can't in most of the jobs I've had.

I guess the only thing holding me back is money, I would have to repeat this quarter of school and I want to make sure it is worth the money I am spending!

I think you would open more doors for you. If the opportunity is there I say go for it. Good luck

If you have the chance to switch I think you should do it. Even if you'll need to repeat a quarter.

I believe the current trend of oversupply of new nurses and fewer jobs for them will most likely accelerate. The number of new grads has doubled in the last 10 years while most academics who speak in the media continue to sound the nursing shortage alarm. Best to maximize your chances while you can. All the best to you!

if youre almost done with lpn why not finish it then do a bridge program from lpn to rn
