Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology Tansfer Credits? (NWIHT)

Published

Hi, has anybody gone to NWIHT and successfully been able to transfer credits in? I've taken A&P 1, 2, 3 as well as Gross Anatomy lab 1 and 2. I was thinking about going to Chamberlain and they were going to accept them as transfer credits but I didn't know if NWIHT is fussy about accepting transfers. I know I am going to go to school here, but it is SO expensive and any little bit would help, you know? Thanks in advance for any info! :D

(Also, anyone going to be attending school at NWIHT soon?)

From my experience with an admission counselor, Amy, a prospective student can transfer credits (A&P, Psych, Math, Eng., and a Computer course). You will have to pay $50 for a transcript evaluation. If the courses are less than 5 years, you will have to test and based on an associate of mine, she took the English Comp and didn't pass. The test was NOT multiple choice; she had to write the answers which were graded according to the school's guidelines. She was unable to view her score due to the individual being "out to lunch". She was "encouraged" to just pay the $650 to pay for the course. She has a Bachelor degree and work in the Health Care field.

Hmm. That doesn't sound too great. Before I chose the school I go to now (sort of - I had to take some semesters off bc of family stuff but I plan to start again in the fall), I looked into NWIHT. It seems as though a couple of the private LPN programs have very similar prereq requirements.

I don't see why there's a time limit on English. Math and Science I understand because I know that the community colleges are all that way. But English? Seriously? Specially if they have a Bachelor's degree already. Was the degree earned here or in another country? It seems silly.

Also, I can understand if the person who grades the exams is out to lunch, but why wouldn't they offer to call her back or something before encouraging her to cough up $650 for a class she seems to have already taken? Idunno.

I truly believe it is about the money.....not to discredit the school's curriculum or teachers who facilitate the courses.

You can transfer A&P 1&2, medical term, math, english, psychology & computers if they are within a 5 yr period. If they are not within that period, you can opt to test out of them as long as you've had the class before. If you need to take the class, they offer them at the school (A&P is a part of their actual nursing program). The one thing I like about the school is their classes are for 6 weeks & computer is only 4 weeks. So, you get in & get it done without having to go 16 weeks as with other schools. I hope this helps.
