Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

I've looked around at some online programs as well. Who knows where I'll end up taking it.

As far as the UTA's schedule, I would think most hospitals will work with your schedule for an RN-BSN program. It's not like you'd be working 8-5, M-F anyway. You couldn't do 7 on, 7 off obviously, but if they are paying for it, you'd think they'd arrange your schedule. :monkeydance:

I guess that's a question to ask before accepting a job offer. :chuckle

How'd your A&P go?

Does anyone know about Texas Tech's RN-BSN? I read somewhere on this site yesterday where you could complete their RN-BSN in like 6 months! I have looked at UTA but I just don't know about the 1 day for all day per week thing. What if you had to work that day??? I am looking at Univeristy of Wyoming's RN-BSN. It's 100% online and they don't charge out of state tuition and it's very reasonably priced. Plus, it wouldn't matter where you lived or what your work schedule was like. I also like the fact that their online program is hooked with their brick and mortar nursing school and both are fully accredited.

TWU's RN to BS program required a campus visit maybe one evening or afternoon every other week for the most part. There were some semesters that were more and some that were less. Much of it was online, and I know they were working on having more of it online. It's located near Parkland in Dallas.

Hospital schedules are flexible with school scheduling - you generally work 3 days a week or so- especially if you are working 12 hour days.

This is something I am trying to figure out now. There are so many different options! So far, I've done well in online classes, but I'm sure nursing is a whole different ball game! I guess I have a lot of research to do. :)

I think my A&P went well, but won't know for sure until next week. I don't think I made an A..but I do feel a B. But I am okay with that..I can get a 60 and still end up with an A for the semester and I KNOW I did better than that! I didn't study an awful lot....I was just so tired  and plus in the back of my mind I knew I didn't have to make an A.

Up until now, I have never taken an online class. I think I would do well, I am very self motivated. I'll probably be taking my first online class this fall. All of the people that I have talked to that are doing or have done University of Wyoming's online RN-BSN had nothing but good things to say about it. So unless something drastic changes between now and when I become a RN then I'll probably pick that one. :lol2:

Well if you do decide to do an online RN-BSN just make sure the place is ACCREDITED! With the net and everybody and their dog trying to get into nursing I'm sure there are places popping up just to make some $$$. They don't always tell you this up front and I'm really surprised at the number of people who don't even look into these things at all or until it's too late.

Oh my! I just found out I made a 97 on my lab final. That means that if I make anything higher than a 60 on my lecture final, I will have an A in A&P I. WOW. That is such a weight off my shoulders! (and yes, Amy, I wanted to be like you with your 60 -- hahaha!)

I haven't done too much research. I've skimmed through this site looking at different posts on program options. I'm sure ya'll will be hearing all about it when I get to that point!

Fun - was the physical bad? I know I want to be a nurse, but I hate going to the doctor. Heh.

Congrats on the 97. :)

:lol2: The physical isn't bad at all. My dr didn't do the anal/lady partsl exams (whatever it says on the form), so it was mostly talking, feeling my ovaries (externally), and listening to breathing sounds....nothing painful. :D

Jaxia,

WAY TO GO! I see you over there trying to be like me! Yes, I understand having that weight lifted off your shoulders. 1 step closer to your goal! Good luck on your last test! When do you take it?

Fun,

Did you just go to your regular doctor for your physical or did you go to one of those clinics that does school physicals? About how much do physicals cost? I need to get started on that "list" of things to do for the applicatiojn packet. I have already done the first 2 hepatitis shots, but that's all. I wonder if my health insurance would cover this - I doubt it.

Congrats on the 97. :)

Thanks Fun!

My lecture final is on Monday and my math final is on Tuesday. Then I start Dev psych on Friday...

I was wondering if my health insurance would cover it, too. I haven't started any of it! I am going to try to make an appointment soon.

Jaxia,

Good luck on your Monday and Tuesday finals! You better get started on the hepatitis shots. There are 3 shots and they are spread out over 4-6 months. I am not 100% sure if you must have all 3 done before application time or not but you might want to ask. I started mine in Jan. and have 1 left to go. I wanted to make sure I had them ALL done before application time.

Also, did anyone transfer credits from somewhere besides a DCCCD school? DCCCD has an original transcript from my previous university and I was wondering if I could just get a copy of it made from DCCCD or if I would have to request another original transcript from previous university. It sure would be easier to get a copy from DCCCD but I don't want to screw up my application packet either.

Thanks Fun!
