Top paying hospitals in NC ?

I am from NY and I am an emergency room nurse and was wondering if anyone from NC has any insight on good hospitals that pay well? We are looking to re-locate in a year to either north or south and trying to do some research. any advice would help?

That is kind of a loaded question. The three big ones here in the Raleigh-Durham are pretty competitive and while one may or may not pay better, there are different percs and nuance between them. I am not an ED nurse, so I really don't know the specifics, but I know a lot of people that LOVE where they work and others that have moved between the three.

I don't know that you could go wrong with any of the three. I am partial to Duke but WakeMed peds ED is where I take my kids (it is closer and they are GREAT) UNC has the Burn Unit.

Investigate all three :)

They're each a little different, from what I've learned by talking to friends. But all in all, sound pretty similar rate wise. I'm partial to where I work. I applied to all of them in this area when I was looking at moving.

I also applied, not just in this area of NC but other areas in NC and SC too. Based on what I heard then and have heard from friends who've switched employers - the Raleigh-Durham area pays better than say - coastal areas or the Charlotte area.

As far as Ive heard Duke has terrible pay rates. I know a few people that I met in orientation that work at UNC and Wake Med. Im in the Ambulatory Care Clinic Float Pool as and LPN at UNC.

Duke has done some things to catch up. I have not had personal experience @ UNC, but a good friend who hated it there. WakeMed may be in a little trouble, but I do know their ratios are not better than Duke, but I have friends that work there and love it.

oh no what kind of trouble for WakeMed? I'm planning to relocate and possibly work at WakeMed :/

Paying what they pay, they won't be able to sustain that. they just went live with EPIC and got dinged from JCOH (for something TOTALLY unfair). They are try to get Magnet status, too. I don't think it is a horrible thing, but all three hospitals (4 if you count Rex) suffer from revolving nurses. It's finding the one that you fit in with. I get at least 10 emails a week from WakeMed for open positions (I never took myself off their email alerts)+
