Johnston Community College 2010 and TEAS

U.S.A. North Carolina

So what do you think that minimum score would be to get into Johnston Community College ADN program for 2010? I did just ok on my TEAS. I may have about 95 points total. But I scored 87% on the TEAS with a score of 83.5. One of my friends talked to admissions and she mentioned that in order to be competitive this year you MUST have scored atleast an 80. Also I am wondering when to expect letters of admission...or rejection....I am hoping to hear sooooon after the May 15th deadline to be on the Nurse Aid registry.

Letter never came. I will have to wait another whole day in suspense. However, I am not terribly upset. I applied to Forsyth CC (in Winston-Salem) and got in. However, I didn't want to relocate and declined admission. I put all my "nursing" eggs (so to speak) in Johnston CC but I also applied to a PTA program at Nash CC. I was up in the air about Nursing vs. Physical Therapy Assistant. If I get rejected (ouch) from Johnston CC I will probably take that as a sign to go the PTA route. There is no advancement in PTA but the work is in demand and steady and the pay is (sorta)good and you only deal with one patient at a time and way less stress (and very little paperwork) However, on the other hand their are practically unlimited possibilities and growth with nursing and crazy earning potential. So I suppose it comes down to whether I would be happy with a "cushy job with little paperwork and semi-decent money". But tomorrow I will see if a higher power made my decision for me.

Still no letter...am I being "punk'd"? I just want to know either way... Was there some date that you guys had to respond by? Some deadline?

Jennifer, we have to respond by Monday, June 1. Has your mail arrived yet? I would call JCC again and explain the situation. Just don't give up.

Hi everyone,

I just discovered this new posting. I am also trying to get in Fall 2010. Today is May 28th, just got the mail and still no letter!! I have a 4.0gpa, have just finished up APII so I am not sure if that will count or not towards my points. I should have a 103.5 if my APII counts, or 95.5 is my APII does not count? I have also taken additional courses such as Nutrtition and currently taking Pathophysiology online. JCC summer hours say they are closed on Fridays, so will they still be sending out letters next week? Have I missed something? Please let me know if you all are still getting letters after today! Will they send a letter either way or only if accepted?

Possibly they are waiting to see if the first round of people get their letters accept or decline. If they decline we may get a yes or no depending on the availability of spots.

Under Webadvisor if you are logged in, there is a link for "My Profile", transcipt, GPA by semester etc. it states whether you are a Associates in General Education OR Associates Degree Nursing...Mine still says Associate Degree General Education...Maybe they don't adjust that until after all letters have been accepted or declined...has anyone looked at their profile to see if that status has changed?? I got my mail today and still nothing....All i know is that I am concerned my application was lost or something, it shouldn't take this long...

I don't understand why you have not received your letter. Were you both on the CNA registry by the March 15 deadline? The college is closed Friday and we have to send in our acceptance confirmation by Monday, June 1.

I'm sorry, the deadline for CNA registration was May 15.

I have been registered since last year as a CNA and working on the Cardiac Unit at Waked Med Raleigh since Dec. 2009...Does your Webadvisor profile have you listed as Associates in Nursing? I don't know any other way to try to figure out if I got in or not. Maybe my application was lost, maybe the letter is lost, maybe it's because i live in Raleigh and it takes longer, or maybe like Jennifer said I could be on hold waiting for others to decline before they send me an offer letter.... How is it that they expect people to get the letter and accept by June 1st the holiday, right after they send out letters over a holiday weekend when mail won't even run??

You cannot register for nursing even if you have been accepted until various tasks have been completed. I've been running around today getting immunization records, background check, and making an appointment for a physical. So although I've been accepted, technically I'm still a general student until everything clears.

I've been on the registry for awhile now. However, I do believe that some people were "rejected" (ouch) because they did not send in a copy of their Certificate of Completion for their CNA course. Did all of you complete this step (even if you sent in your course registration for the course)? My mail still has not come. But I suppose no news is good news.

Does anyone know if acceptance and rejection letters were sent out separately? Any class that was not completed by the March 1 deadline was not included in the final points. My final score (points) was 111.4. If my A&P II was counted I made a final score of 119.4.
