the institute for nursing excellence
north carolina values the registered nurses who provide direct care to its citizens. the institute for nursing excellence is one way the state has chosen to reward registered nurses who are selected as the best in the state. the institute for nursing excellence (ine) is an annual professional development program that recognizes and rewards excellent direct care registered nurses.
registered nurses working in the state with five years of nursing experience and who spend at least 50% of their time providing direct nursing care are eligible for this award. each applicant must document and provide evidence of above average job performance, an extensive knowledge base, being a forward thinker, participation in unit/agency decision making, fostering a collaborative practice environment by serving as a mentor and role model for nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team, and a client/patient acknowledgement of excellence.
