I can't find any info on how a nurse enforces nursing scope of practice on non-nursing staff. I work in a nursing home and have seen many violations of non-nurses directing resident care. Administration hasn't been helpful. I've had an environmental services manager try to dictate resident care to me (RN Supervisor). I've seen social workers directing resident care to LPNs. Does the board of nursing have any power to do anything about these violations? If not, who does? Is it illegal for these non-nursing staff employees to direct nurses and to direct care? What are the ramifications if an Administrator isn't helpful? I'm in Ohio.
