I am unsure if this is the place to post but I really dont want to hear things from a students POV, right now. I have a BS in human development and family studies... aside from not really being able to find gainful employment, even with my CFLE & SWA certification, I have always been more interested in the clinical side of things. I am willing and ready to learn the hands on side of nursing, however, I am more interested in research leaning in the PH sector. I think that with my BS degree and my ultimate career goal, this might be a good idea.
I have been looking at a program my local community college has for those with BS/BA in a different field... because I am not willing to get another BS in Nursing (accellerated)... its too costly and time consuming. I was wondering if anyone else actually went this track to become an RN... the 'acellerated' ADN way. I would prefer to become an RN before going for an MPH.. simply because I would have liked to 1) have had work experience and 2) be absolutely sure that an RN isnt enough for me.
I guess I would also like to know if there are other nurses who are currently more in the research/non-hands on side of things and basic experiences at work. At my previous jobs, there were nurses who did things in a call center... which I thought was awesome because it allows so many different outlsets for the passion that one might have for the healthcare field.

If you like academic research, are you interested in pursuing PhD at some point? If you are, I highly recommend going BSN or MSN route in a research-focused university. The school I just graduated from, encouraged us a lot to go PhD track. There were ample opportunities to get to know the faculty and assist them with their research, for those who wanted. The great thing about nursing research is that it can range from biochemical, pharmacological to behavioral/psychological to global humanistic... you name it. With your background, I think you'll be a great researcher.
