Non Degree Seeking Graduate Student

How are some of you guys going about taking graduate level classes such as patho, pharm, health assess, etc.?

I just got into a University of Texas campus and the only available graduate nursing class is statistics - no other classes are available to non degree seeking students. You have to be in the MSN program offering the class (such as Nurse Practitioner program).

Other universities in Texas are telling me the same thing. Only offering one or two grad classes that are not what I want to take.

Are you enrolling in some online school?

You can find them online. I know the university of new england offers some, I think University of North Carolina offers some, but they are expensive. Have to google around to find, or research a bit more in this forum and I know people have posted them. I just can't think of all of them.

Did you tell them that you are an accepted student? Sometimes you can get special permission for a limited number of credit hours.

Yes. I've talked to the Assistant Dean and Dean of the graduate nursing programs. No help. I've also contacted teachers to different courses individually and they say I can join as long as I get permission from the program director- who will only allow me to take Advanced Statistics.

I've done a search and contacted several of the schools that others say they have taken graduate nursing classes at on an individual, non-degree student basis and those schools have also said the courses are not available unless enrolled in a masters program (NP, etc).

At this rate I don't see how anyone is able to take graduate nursing classes before applying to CRNA school. Any other help would be great!

I'm interested in a graduate level Pharm and Patho class.

I enrolled in classes at Liberty University. You can take online MSN classes as a non degree grad. When I registered to take the class online I was blocked. But when I called student services they did it over the phone with no hassle. Good luck;-)
