Hey, y'all,
I apologize if this is inappropriate, but I just wanted to ask about new grad RN salaries for the NOLA area. I had an instructor tell me that hospitals in the area are offering up to $43.00/hr (around $90k/year). It sounds too good to be true. I graduate in July and am starting to look for areas to work/live.
Thanks, Elizabeth

That is not bad... I know engineers who have worked for twenty years to make that much

I believe it... I'm from BR and we have a lot of nurses who have quit their jobs here to go to NO for the excellent pay.
Is the pay for similar areas-such as Lafayette or BR or other bigger cities-the same, or is it sort of unique to NO?
I know here in baton rouge pay is not nearly as high. Don't know about Lafeyette... but I doubt it.

There are sites that give average salaries:
http://swz.salary.com/salarywizard/layoutscripts/swzl_localrangebell.asp?geo=U.S.+National+Averages&jobcode=HC07000001&jobtitle=Staff+Nurse+-+RN&narrowdesc=Healthcare+--+Nursing&narrowcode=HC05&yearsofexp=&r=salswz_swznatblb_psr&p=050205_psr_495&s=salary&pagenumber=1&paycheckcalc=0&zipcode=70117
Apartments too:

Thanks so much! I think I will call HRs in NOLA in a month to see what I can do/what their standards are.
