After three years of waiting and denied acceptance, my friend was about to give up on her dream of becoming a nurse. Her big break came after she learned about Marygrove/Oakland University Nursing Program. Her credits from WCCCD transferred and next week she will begin working toward her Bachelor in Health and Science Degree from Marygrove College, after which she will be accepted into Oakland University's 1-year Nursing program and upon completion she will have two degrees: Health and Science Bachelor's from Marygrove and a Nursing BSN from Oakland University. She also received a $6000 per semester scholarship.
She went from being discouraged and about to quit, to being back on track and way ahead of her game. I am both happy for and proud of her for not giving up.

Don't give up. Often the wait leads to bigger and better, if only you don't give up.

Congrats! And, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. I am so happy for her. And since so many of us: either have, are or know someone who was in her shoes...I just had to share.

Wow thank you for this!! This is an great option!
If I don't get into WCCCD program on the first try this is definitely my next route!

Hey, how awesome! Now I have an incentive to move!
Yes it is. And they provide financial awards on a case by case basis. I have another friend who recently applied, she will know her financial award amount next week. I personally love the two bachelor's degrees. Although, I begin WCCCD's program next week, I am going to apply for Marygrove's Health and Science program. Upon completion of WCCCD's program, I would love to have a bachelor degree in addition to my ADN.
