Locally we have a centralized re-use program that comes through, picks up our dialyzers and takes them away for reprocessing, then brings em back. Horrible waste of money if you ask me. We were better off with in-house, IMHO. So, we will be all dry packs. Hallelujah! Woohoo! I say that from the convenience standpoint. I hate reuse. Most of us do, after all. But I know the budget-conscious me would mourn the loss.
I hear that the other "centralized Programs" are being cut, too. Central Admissons, the middle man, as you say. And our central inventory/ordering, which sucks anyways. Can't count how many times we've run out of stuff. When our BMT does the ordering it flows very smoothly.
This is a Davita clinic in Dallas.

It might seem like a waste but just think of all the toxic chemicals that WON'T be going into the environment. Is DaVita gonna be making their own dialyzers or are they gonna be buying from Fresenius?
Not to mention the gas and emissions from all that driving. I didn't like non reuse at first seemed like more work but when you get used to it you will never look back.
Is this DaVita wide. This issue has been one of the major reasons I don't like working in their units. I was a traveler for 6 1/2 years but I work for FMC now as a local traveler.
I'm pro-dry pack, I thought I made that clear. I am not sad to let go of the reuse. The waste IS the chemicals, the driving expenses, the staff.
Davita wide? Not sure. Just local as far as I know.
We use Gambro revaclear dialyzers right now. We have used fresenius in the past. Baxter.
